Pirates in Paradise -- more than just pirates!
Celebrating the island’s rich and colorful maritime history and heritage, the 12 annual Pirates in Paradise Festival offers a myriad of Historic Walking Tours, Pirate Tours and Pirate Pub Strolls.
Learn more about the ghosts hat once walked these streets with Pirate Tours of Key West's Pirate Walking Tours & Pub Strolls.
Step back in time to WWII and learn WWII history by touring the historic submarine hunter -- the USS MOHAWK CGC which signaled the start of the D-Day Invasion and the USCGC INGHAM, the country's most decorated war ship. These maritime museum ships are docked at Truman Waterfront Commons and will also serve as the backdrop for the Festival’s Pirate Village & Thieves’ Market (11/24-12/4) Which features period clothing, handcrafted arts, exquisite jewelry, leather and glassware, as well as pirate treasure and swords.
During the Festival’s Village Market, Holiday Bazaar (11/24-12/4), the Pirate Pub will be serving up the finest micro brews, wines & rums from around the world, and hungry pirates can choose from vegetarian delights, BBQ, southern soul food and delectable desserts.
Enjoy non-stop entertainment, period arts and crafts, storytelling competitions, pirate parades, strolling minstrels telling tales of the sea and singing spirited chanteys...and plenty of other piratical activities for buccaneers & wenches of all ages!
This year the Festival has added several new events at the Truman Waterfront Commons, including the 1st Annual Rum Mix Off & Island Roots Music Fest (11/24-27), Pirate Cinema (11/29), the Conch Republic Pirate Feast & Sailors Shipwreck Holiday Ball (12/2), the Conch Republic B.U.B.B.A. Homemade Brew Competition, Boucan BBQ/Jerk Cook-Off & Sea Chantey Songfest (12/3 & 4) and Jolly Roger ‘Hard Aground’ Land-Ship Sailing Regatta (12/4.)

Featuring live music and the ceremonial burning of the hurricane flags, the public can also enjoy the Festival’s Pirate Village Market & Pirate Pub.
Don't miss the re-enactment of the historical trial of Anne Bonny and Mary Read (12/2 & 3), the two most famous women pirates in history. The tryal, which will take place at the Pirate Village Main Stage, lets you step back in time to experience a real tryal of pirates. Based on the original transcripts provided by Tamara Eastman, the ending will surprise you, to be sure.
Pirate artists of all ages are invited to come early and meet at the Village Market Main Stage at 9am to join world renowned maritime pirate artist Don Maitz for Pirate Art 101 and 'Color Along.'
If you're in the mood to test your own piratical skills, participate in the 7th Annual Pyrates of the Coast National Walk the Plank Championships aboard the Schooner WOLF at Truman Waterfront Commons (12/3), where victims (uhh, contestants) are forced to walk the plank for prizes and glory. Or...compete in the Most Buxom Wench Contest and Bad Ass Pirate Party (11/30.) Both events are hilarious fun, whether you're participating or simply enjoying the competition.
Other swashbuckling piratical events scheduled for the Truman Waterfront Commons include the Pyrates of the Coast 2nd annual Tall Tales Storytelling Competition (12/3) and a Kid’s Area (for pirates of all ages!) that includes knot tying demos and games of chance.
The Key West Maritime Historical Society invites one and all to join them for author & historian Robert N. Macomber's 3rd annual PIP Key West Reader Rendezvous (11/28-12/1) and 11th annual Literature & the Sea Retreat (11/28-12/4.).
